Uncle Richard

"Uncle Richard" is a Canadian who has been living in Rio for 17 years now and so knows the city better than anyone. He has ten years of experience of working with travellers and tourists and is the only person in the entire city to conduct a walking tour of the favelas – a fact that is testimony to the esteem and trust in which he´s held in Rio.

He works exclusively with anythinginrio.com and over the years has hand-picked a team of streetwise guides to work with him. He knows everyone in the city worth knowing and is the kind of guy you need in a tight spot. Whatever you need when you're in Rio, just ask Uncle.

Adrianna

Age: 24
"Rio is the only place I would ever live. I”ve travelled a few times but I could never wait to get back. In our marvellous city” we have everything: beaches, nightlife, human warmth. Everyone from the cold countries come to Brazil just to learn how to have a good time – so why would I want to live anywhere else?"

Adrianna graduated in tourism and now works free lance as a guide and translator. She spends most of her free time at the beach or banging a tambourine at a samba jam.

Tom

Age:27
"I've been travelling for 8 years and have finally found somewhere cool enough to call home. Rio de Janeiro is a huge city with tons of life but it's still easy to meet people. It's easy come, easy go, a city with no commitments and the kind of place where you can re-invent yourself every day."

Tom is an English travel writer who now pays the rent for his Copacabana apartment by showing tourists around the town. No longer just another dumb gringo he now always arrives late, avoids direct questions and hits on every pretty girl he sees – if he gets a tan he'll pass for a Brazilian.

Gisele

Age: 30
"I used to wake up each day with a hangover and broke. Now I get paid to wake up with a hangover after showing tourists the best places to party all night. Rio nightlife is cool because you meet people without really trying. You can kiss someone and forget their name a minute later."

Gisele spent half her childhood living in France but feels a lot better now. She's made going out into a profession and divides her time between the dance floor and breaking hearts by the bar.
